Appearance: Externalcontracting, internalexpanding: Dai is a contradiction. Beautiful on the outside - blondeblonde hair, less of the bleached effect and more of a sand-sun colored effect. Natural. He has dark eyes, as black as dark brown can be. Often slitted in glittering malice, like a snake, often mocking. He has expressive eyebrows, they twist and curl over his eyes to further his malice and mocking. Lips, thin and white, a slash-mark of malice across his face. His skin is tanned, darker than most of his lily-white Korean compatriots. He walks around with a look of utter indifference expressed to the world: Dai's an asshole, and he is very liberal about letting it show.

He's tall, but not tall enough to use it as an intimidation point. Broad-shouldered but not broadly built - he's lean but not slender, with the musculature of a swimmer or a runner. He has big hands, long fingers which might have been artistic if he didn't use them solely for violence. Scars, they run brightly across his torso, his arms, his legs, battle scars, and he wears them proudly: all except for the remnant of a knife-wound that was given to him by Jaehee. What else. In terms of what he wears: he's fashionable enough, even if he does not put much effort into dressing himself. His father is an esteemed politician in Korea, so of course that means he has money to blow on anything and everything.

Personality: Dai is a contradiction in terms of how he behaves, as well. The creator of this series designed him to be someone that gets under the reader's skin and remain there until the end. She was successful. Dai doesn't make any sense whatsoever. He is very literal in his connections between emotions and actions. When he is displeased, he lashes out physically. When he is happy, it's obvious as well: though perhaps there still might be some malice tempering what exactly he does when he's happy. It's inbred in him, this kind of behavior that seems more well-suited to a child than to a nearly-adult. He's a spoilt, selfish brat who chose a life of delinquency merely because he could. He beats people up within an inch of their lives and then scatters the money for hospital bills around them. He once ties Jaehee to the railroad tracks and leaves him there, without a second thought: it's pure luck that saves Jaehee from being killed.

His family is exceedingly rich - if ammoral - but Dai finds some sort of amusement in the gang life he has chosen. He has no qualms in roughing up those that are weaker than him. He is shown in multiple situations hitting a girl in full-force. At one point, he leaves his lackeys to gang-rape a girl that he doesn't even know. He's - dangerous, deranged, violent, angry, but at the same time, behind the apparent-sociopathy, there is a little, insecure child that loves his dying grandmother unconditionally and can hold Jaehee without guilt throughout the series.

And no, this child is not easily found. Even when he is being himself, he is cruel, unjust, crazy. He uses his physical attractiveness to manipulate other people. He doesn't care about anyone. When he hits a girl, he feels no remorse afterwards. He simply doesn't care. But Dai is not quite a sociopath: at the end, when his actions lead to a woman's blindness and to Jaehee's near-death, he runs away from everything, and starts life anew. It's never shown whether he really does turn a new leaf, but I think the rest of the manhwa answered that question. Dai is crazy. He's a child in some ways, a dangerous adult in others. Only Jaehee's presence stabilizes him, and even at times that's not even enough.

Dai is proud to a fault - he will not accept any slights against himself, and will track the offender down until they have admitted remorse for the statement. He doesn't forgive easily. He holds grudges until he forgets about them: this can take a minute or fifteen years. He likes reading manga, is a strong bicyclist and has an excellent memory.

Abilities/Strengths: Dai is a wonder in fist-fights, strong and fast enough to beat pretty much all of the enemies that appear before him. He's not against fighting dirty to receive an outcome in his favor. He has a way of intimidating the people around him: merely by the way he walks, talks, and carries himself. He's reasonably bright, even if he does utilize his brains for less-than-wholesome objects. He's charismatic, and thus very good at getting people to blindly follow him into the darkest of places. And so, he is a natural leader.

Dai is also rather skilled in the art of manipulation. He's still a teenage boy, of course, so his attempts aren't particularly sophisticated. But he's done in more than one gang rival in ways that they wouldn't have even dreamed about. One of his rivals was tricked into roughing up two of their schoolteachers: one who lost her sight permanently.

Dai's also strange in the fact that he seems to be able to turn his conscience on and off. There are times where he feels terrible for all that he has committed, other times where he could not care less even if he tried.

Weaknesses: Jaehee, most notably. Dai basically gave up a life of nihilistic pleasure for Jaehee. He braved his father's anger, being sent away from Korea for good, and much, much more. Coming from a boy that seems to basically not have a conscience, Jaehee is quite obviously more than just an Achilles heel to him.

He also loves his grandmother dearly - even if he does show it by kicking her around and calling her a bitch. She is probably the one part of his family that he does love. He protects her against his parents' neglect and spend all of his free time with her. When she dies, Dai is left in tears: it's really the first time he's shown as anything but an emotionless asshole.

He hates schoolwork and teachers that attempt to "fix" him.
